Blueprint for Nursing Leadership. Creating a Culture of Accountability - 2011
Our “Blueprint for Nursing Leadership” emerged from dialogue with our nurse leaders on the daily challenges that managers encounter with competing and compelling priorities in the increasingly complex health care environment. Recognizing this as a transformational opportunity the reorganized nurse executive council members were invited to a leadership retreat to further explore this topic.

Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI): The policy directions presented are chosed to stimulate discussion and action and are informed by two papers commissioned by the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement for the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA): Interprofessional Collaborative Teams and Evidence Synthesis for the Effectiveness of Interprofessional Teams in Primary Care.

Given that chief nursing officers (CNOs) play a critical role in hospital organizations and require a diverse set of executive leadership and professional competencies, what competencies are most critical? What kind of support is needed for a leader who is new to this executive role? What is needed to successfully on board an experienced leader who is new to the organization? How can a CNO demonstrate the unique value he/she brings to the executive BC[ suite?

RNAO Position Statement: Strengthening Client Centred Care in Long Term Care - 2010
RNAO strongly supports the development of Long Term Care Homes (LTCHs) utilizing a resident/client-centred care model, where Ontarians have access to continuity of care and continuity of caregiver from a primary nurse. RNAO also strongly endorses strengthening inter-professional care so all health disciplines work closely to support high quality care in all health care settings.
